Surviving Motherhood...One Cup of Coffee at a Time

This year was the big 5 for my Averie. No longer a toddler and officially a kid. When I asked what kind of party she wanted she immediately answered UNICORN!! Deal! Well kind of...

We were on a bit of a budget this year and summer is a busy time for us, so I wasn't able to go all out, but I still have this weird part of me that refuses to do something extremely simple and boring. So I at least needed it to look cute even if it wasn't much. Let's face it, we all know I pinned and pinned everything I could find off of Pinterest which definitely helped with ideas, but also set the bar a little high. And really...ain't nobody got time for that.

But those ideas at least gave me a starting point. I only spent more time on the things I knew I could finish without wanting to chuck it at the wall because it looked terrible, and just bought the rest.

The party was held at a local water splash park which gave the entertainment and space for free. The kids absolutely loved it, and since the birthday is at the beginning of July, it kept them cool in the heat.

For food I wanted to do so many cute things that of course I found on Pinterest. I almost gave into the evil but decided I didn't have the time, patience, or budget for those things. And Averie could care less if I made a rainbow out of veggies, or labeled cookies "Unicorn Poop". So I settled for a cute cake and cupcakes for a snack then went and picked up a few five buck pizzas. Gave everyone a lunch and sweets to snack on.

I did a lot of it myself to save on money. Including the cupcakes, cake (including banner and unicorn), and unicorn cutout. This made such a difference because ordering everything can really add up!

So here you have it. Even if you're on a tight budget or a time crunch, you can still make it a party to remember!
